WAFT [a plant-based experiment]

WAFT is a community-first pop-up restaurant focused on using local, sustainable & plant-based foods. 

WAFT is built around the idea that healthful, delicious and culturally relevant food should be, and can be accessible to everyone. We believe in pushing the boundaries of what is possible in a pop-up, making exciting meals available and affordable in underrepresented areas and food deserts around Southern Arizona.

​We believe that focusing on local sustainability and ethical sourcing is not just the right thing to do, but is also just good business. 
WAFT partners exclusively with local businesses in and around Tucson, AZ  to support our local economy - Not just the food we prepare and serve; we also strive to shop local for our equipment, merchandise, and professional services. 

We offer a consistent low-cost menu of healthful items, alongside a rotating menu that is fun, exciting, often themed, and based on what is locally available. We proudly host pay-what-you-can-afford events in areas with less accessibility, and donate time and food regularly as part of our operating model.

Our Founders 

KRYSTLE PEARL

Krystle, our founder and co-owner, has been plant-based since the age of 13. Growing up in rural Arizona with limited dining options, she developed a love and passion for developing plant-based cuisine. Krystle owns and operates multiple businesses, including her trauma-informed Yoga practice, YogaRe in Tucson, AZ. 

TYLER DOWDEN

Tyler is WAFT's endless source of energy, enthusiasm and creativity. With a decade of experience in all areas of restaurant and food service - serving, cooking, operations management, and recipe development/meal planning - Tyler wears many hats and runs the day-to-day operations. 

TRAVIS ADKINS

Travis, our lead recipe developer and chef, has over 10 years of experience in the restaurant, fine-dining, event and service industry. He is an avid artist both inside and outside the kitchen, and designs all of our media content. Travis' boisterous personality is truly the face of WAFT in Tucson.

TYSON BIVENS

Tyson has an academic background in nutritional Anthropology, with a focus in local sustainability, food and culture. He is passionate about plant-based foods from a health, socio-economic and ethical perspective. Tyson focuses on local business partnership, operations, and local sustainable food sourcing
